Is trolling a threat to social media success?

Image
While social media is a great tool to build a team of loyal followers, it also is subject to attacks from random trolls. 😡😡😡 Popular celebrities in sports, movies or politics are frequent targets of trolling. Because they have high visibility online. If a famous celeb gets frustrated with constant trolling and responds to a troll, that reply spreads quickly. So, the person who trolled also gets free publicity although negative.  Its recommended to not react to trolls and continue to share your honest thoughts about an important event in your life. Example: K. L. Rahul, captain of the new IPL team Lucknow Super Giants, recently tweeted about a brave fight his team put on against the other new team: Gujarat Titans. Although LSG eventually lost the low scoring match in the last over. So, the fans got frustrated and started trolling Rahul. Are political parties leveraging social media effectively?

Image
Political parties need to reach out to their potential voters primarily for two reasons:  If not in power, convince the voters to vote for them by sharing their manifesto and vision (if elected) If already in power, update the residents of the party's constituency on their progress towards meeting the goals which were promised in the election manifesto and vision Social media tools such as Facebook , Twitter and YouTube are free to use and can be leveraged to meet the above two requirements. But in order to reach the intended audience organically, following best practices need to be applied. When registering for a new account, choose a sensible username. Example: party name (https://www.facebook.com/AamAadmiParty/ or https://www.facebook.com/GOP) Post fresh content regularly (at least once a day or once a week) to highlight party's agenda and accomplishments Include visual content and not just text. Example: image of party leader or video of party workers listening to voters...

How to maintain friendship in a WhatsApp group?

Image
1. Take every social media post casually or as a joke (not personally). 2. No one is bigger than others in the WhatsApp group. 3. Everybody is important in the group. But no one is too important for the group. In other words, no one is the owner or leader of the group. There can be a team of administrators or moderators who can establish rules of the group: Do's and Don'ts. 4. Everyone should do his or her best. 5. Nothing is original..... All are forwards, so no need to react on every post or comment. 6. Sometimes repeats are there, do not bother. Welcome them. It is normal everywhere. 7. No one gets paid. So it is a thing of love & volunteering efforts. 8. Live your normal life, you are unique & without some of you the group will be boring. 9. Never expect someone else to build the group, but do your best by making your contribution. 10. Groups are always for fun, so let's make & have fun out of whatever is posted. Don't just read a post, make a comment t...

How to increase engagement of passive Social Media users?

Image
It’s interesting so many people read my posts in WhatsApp groups.  But very few like my best friend in school or college likes them or reacts to them! (less than 20% users react while more than 80% users read)  I wonder why? Is it because we like posts or respond to them based on who we personally are close to? That’s what these social sites should try to address. Give everyone an opportunity to express unbiased appreciation not just personal liking.  I feel social channels should auto prompt a question to every reader of a post... Hey, you read someone’s post, why didn’t you respond or like? Gmail has started doing it. When you read someone’s email who spent lot of time writing it, it auto prompts you:  You read someone’s email 3 days ago. But you didn’t respond. Can you reply now? Yes, I am a bit concerned about what's currently happening on social sites. So, I keep giving suggestions. Example: When I joined social media, I thought I would make new friends who wil...
