Should The Kashmir Files movie be uploaded to YouTube?

A famous politician recently said in Delhi Legislative Assembly: upload The Kashmir Files film on YouTube instead of making it tax free in theatres. So, more people can watch it for free. He continued with his claims that some people are making crores of rupees in the name of the Kashmiri Pandits on whose exodus the movie was made. This controversial statement was made on March 24th, 2022. 🤯🤯🤯

I would argue otherwise using below logic...

If The Kashmir Files movie was uploaded to YouTube, it could be flagged by the international YouTube community (in-case its guidelines are violated). And eventually, censored or completely removed from the YouTube site.

So, this drama film (written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri) won’t reach its intended audience. Hence the purpose of exposing the dark reality of 1990 exodus (and not to recommend its solution) would not be possible to fulfill.

While in theatres, once censor board (CBFC: Central Board of Film Certification) passes, it will be the cinema owner's decision to show the realistic fictional movie or not. Since many theatres decided to show the film in states where the ruling political party made it tax free, it has led to the Bollywood movie going viral through word-of-mouth and a huge commercial success - Rs. 207 crores collected at the box office in just two weeks of its release (March 11th, 2022). 💲💲💲
